My Nose Tastes Like Swimming Pools

Short story collection by Sam Lightfinch

Strap in for kangaroos in chip shops, high-pursuit haircuts, births, possible deaths, haunted bird houses, pretty doors, a digital voice, tinned meat cravings and barely disguised love letters. Across these 13 stories, you’ll learn about life’s seasons, messy love, the feeling of always teetering on the edge of a story, and how even the surreal can be utterly boring.

Hey, I‘m Sam Lightfinch

I’m a bunch of atoms goofing around on a tiny rock. I tell stories and make things.

Most recently that’s looked like a book of short stories called My Nose Tastes Like Swimming Pools. It’s also included tables, brand strategies, travel videos, nationwide campaigns, a camper van, champion playlists, weird art, a veganism community, a cracking sock puppet, and lots of delicious friendships.

Chances are you’ll find me making a mess in the studio, eating at the top of a windy hill or dancing in a basement like one of those inflatable tube people they use to sell second hand cars.

I work for 3800. It’s an improvement studio based in Sheffield, UK. We partner with leaders to uncover, imagine and design better tomorrows. I‘m making the best work of my career, and doing it with absolute diamonds.
